"Public Spaces are places that possess meaning and investment and are open and accessible to everyone."
- Professor Carla Shedd "It is a space where people of all walks of life are able to freely congregate and learn from one another." - Jonah Smith "Public Space is a place over which no single person has control and where one should expect the unexpected." - Benji de la Piedra |
What is Happening Now?
New York City's Stop and Frisk policies were declared unconstitutional last Fall. Now we need to end similar policing practices in cities across the country. We need to end policies such as stop and frisk and state legislation such as Florida's "Stand Your Ground" law in order for our public spaces to be truly public.
